Andra Otilia Nicolescu is a Romanian-American Pushcart Prize-nominated writer and international human rights lawyer. Her fiction appears in Glimmer Train, Catapult Magazine, Blunderbuss Magazine, Parallel Protokollen, and elsewhere. Her scholarly work has been published by Oxford University Press, Edward Elgar Publishing, and the International Bar Association.
A a graduate of the Bread Loaf, One Story, and Southampton Writers' Conferences, she currently lives in Geneva, Switzerland, where shes serves as Executive Secretary and programmes and strategic development officer on the Steering Committee of the Geneva Writers Group/GWG, a nonprofit home of literary arts and artistisans from around the world, where she oversees programmes, strategic development, and partnerships.
In 2024, Andra was Artist-in-Residence at KHB Studios, Kunsthalle Wedding, and Minimales Reisen, Kunsthalle Below, both in Berlin, where she developed work in photography and mixed media exploring themes of memory, displacement, and witness.
Born in Pitești, Romania, Andra immigrated to New York as a child, she has since lived and worked in Cameroon, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany. She holds degrees from McGill University, American University's Washington College of Law, and the London School of Economics.
